May 14, 2009: Educational Session: IT Planning for the 21st Century: An EMR Demo and Discussion Regarding the Selection Process and Subsequent Lessons Learned
This educational session was an opportunity to see a demonstration of the EPIC EMR application recently implemented at the Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas. A panel discussion followed the demo, hosted by the Mercy executive staff, their clinical applications team, IT team, and physician champions, to include such topics as their EMR selection process, some of the difficult hurdles the staff of Mercy had to overcome, the adoption rate of the application by the Mercy physician and nurse staff, and some of the lessons learned.
